Nicole Richie’s maternity line launches

Nicole Richie makes preggers look good. So good that she’s capitalizing on it, and today marks her launch date for her own maternity clothing line, available through A Pea in the Pod for stylish expecting mums.

She’s certainly come a long way since her high falluting days on The Simple Life with her mostly BFF, Paris Hilton. Mother to baby Harlow (now a toddling year and a half old) with another little one on the way, Nicole’s following up on the success of her jewellery line, House of Harlow 1960, with her newest fashion venture, creating the line of maternity wear.

In an interview with People magazine, the star said, “I really tried to make this line to get women excited about wearing clothes.” Word is you can expect to see some of Nicole’s signature boho luxe look, with floor-skimming maxidresses, loose-fitting peasant tops, ethnic prints and plenty of stretch jersey.

“I think the pregnant body is beautiful, and I think you should show it off,” she said, and this collection aims to do just that. The line launches today at apeainthepod.comand will be available online only. Although the website is US based, they do ship to the UK.

Maybe all the preggo Victoria’s Secret models we talked about a few blogs back will be spotted in Richie’s clothes this fall?

Rachel Zoe’s new doings

Rachel’s been busy! The world’s most overexposed stylist is amping up for her second season of Rachel Zoe Project, with a Bravo start date of August 24th. And, of course that’s not all, she’s been reaching into her pool of  contacts for a computer programmer to start her own shopping blog, The Zoe Report, which promises fashion finds that only the inimitable RZ can suggest.

So she’s finalized her logo, I see. That will be important for her branding efforts (the RZ will fit nicely on the arms of her line of sunglasses, when will those hit the stores? I imagine we will find out in her blog, once they’re done at the manufacturers).

I do like how the Zoe-ster includes “Parallel Universe” finds for those of us who aren’t pulling in the salaries of her A-listers. Today’s entry, “Rock like an Egyptian,” features Anita Ko’s glam-rock pyramid jewelry. However trendy and interesting Ko’s pieces are, at $3600 for a bracelet I know I won’t be running out to grab one right away.

But Rach has got our back, and the “Parallel Universe” blurb at the bottom of her blogs finds similar items at a pricetag most of us can actually afford. This pyramid ring at Ettika.com is a mere $33, now we’re talking!

The Zoe Report is brand new with only a  few entries so far, so jump in and sign up if you love the Zoe-inator. I have to admit, she’s grown on me a lot in the past year. I’m on her blog update list, so I’ll be tuning in.

Baby bump as Fall fashion?

Gisele Bundchen’s latest look is one which seems to be quite on-trend with models these days… she’s preggers! Sure, you can’t tell from this picture here, but she isn’t expecting to deliver until December or early January, so first trimester bumps are pretty easy to hide in an empire waisted sundress.

Perhaps the baby bump is the latest trend for models-off-duty. Check out these other stylin’ Mommies-to-be.

Style icon Nicole Richie has made pregnancy look great for the past few years while carrying her firstborn, Harlow, as well as her current pregnancy — I’ve heard rumors of twins, but the world will know for sure sometimes soon, she’s due late summer/early fall.

And then there’s Heidi Klum, who’s carrying her fourth child (a girl!) and due in October. Am I the only one who finds it amazing that she can still pull off  “short, shiny and tiny” as she enters her third trimester?

One of the highest-paid models in the world, Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova’s sporting her very first baby bump, and it’s a boy.

Adriana Lima, another one of the Victoria’s Secret models, will be waiting until December to greet her first child as well.

Brit model Jourdan Dunn is the youngest on this list to confirm she’s also got a brand new baby bump to wear for Fall, a boy who is also due in December. At just 19 years old, I admire her willingness to make a modelling career for herself while juggling the demands of having a family.

Olsen twins receive CFDA recognition

The 23-year-old twins-slash-moguls, are some of the newest members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, along with 31 other New York-based designers, including Alexander Wang and Jason Wu.

“We are proud to welcome these 31 new members into the CFDA family and we are excited to add such a variety of creative talent to our ranks,” CFDA executive director Steven Kolb said in the Tuesday announcement.

The twins were honored for their clothing lines, Elizabeth and James (named for the twins’ sister and brother), and The Row, a high-end fashion line inspired by London’s Savile Row. The nod is a sign of respect among the industry, which normally frowns upon celebrities making a second career as designers.

The ladies may have CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg to thank directly for the honor. Furstenberg dressed the attention-grabbing pair for The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala last year.
